Meet Martin, Owner

From Corporate Career to Land Stewardship

Native Ground Land Management grew from one man's passion for the outdoors and a simple belief:

That landowners deserve practical, thoughtful land management from someone who actually understands how you want to use your property.

Martin's journey from the corporate world to full-time land stewardship isn't a sales pitch—it's the real reason Native Ground exists.

Where It Started

For years, Martin worked in the corporate world as a Pricing Manager for a large company based out of Freeburg, Illinois. It was a solid career—but it wasn't his life.

The everyday corporate lifestyle meant missing what he loved most: time in the woods. As an avid bow hunter for many years, Martin knew he didn't want to spend his best years in an office.

He wanted to be outdoors. He wanted to work land. He wanted to build something that mattered on his own terms.

That realization sparked a change.

Learning by Doing

About the time Martin made that decision, he and his family owned a few farms. Instead of letting them sit, he decided to improve them—starting with his own.

What began as personal curiosity turned into obsession.

Martin started small: brush work, cutting trees, creating food plots, planting native grasses, controlling invasive plants, building new trails, and doing timber stand improvements (TSI).

As he watched his own farm evolve—becoming more useful for hunting, wildlife, and recreation—he realized how much potential lay dormant on other people's land.

He'd been running tractors and heavy machinery for years. He'd learned equipment. He understood land. And he was good at seeing what a property could become.

Neighbors and friends started asking for help. Word spread. Before long, Martin was doing land work for other property owners—and realizing this was what he wanted to do full-time.

That's when Native Ground Land Management was born.

Why Native Ground Thinks Differently

Most land-management companies focus on tree removal, heavy equipment, or large-scale projects. Native Ground is different because Martin doesn't think like a contractor—he thinks like a landowner.

We Focus on the Land, Not Just the Work

At NGLM, we're geared toward improving land for the people who love it. Whether you're a recreational landowner, a hunter, a farmer, or someone who just wants your property to thrive, we see the bigger picture. We're not afraid of other work or large-scale projects—but our real passion is helping smaller farms and outdoor properties reach their full potential.

We Start With Understanding

Before we touch a single tree or run equipment, we visit your property. We listen to your goals. We look at what you have and what you want to achieve. That on-site meeting isn't a formality—it's where we make sure we actually understand your vision and you understand what we can do.

Customer Satisfaction Comes First

We strive on one thing: your satisfaction. That means clear communication, attention to detail, realistic expectations, and the confidence that you're working with someone who cares about getting it right.
